Aakar College of Management For Women organized a webinar on “Impact of Tobacco on COVID-19”. The World has been hit by the pandemic and once the Lockdown started, The Indian Council for Medical Research asked general public not to consume and spit Smokeless Tobacco in public ,Ministry of Home Affairs issued directive (under the Disaster Management Act) banning spitting in public places.24th April 2020: Sambandh Health Foundation (SHF) and National Service Scheme (NSS),S.N.D.T University ,Mumbai launched a WebLink based awareness campaign. Dr. Govind Mantri,Cancer Surgeon, Jalgaon, Dr. Deepak Deshpande, Hon. Registrar, Sambandh Health Foundation conducted webinar at 11.00 am ,gave brief introduction about the programme and aware the students about this pandemic situation.Those watching the video and answering a quiz get a participation certificate. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, asks Country to not spit in public places. Spitting spreads not just Covid-19, it is a major carrier of TB and many other diseases like hepatitis. Stopping spitting in public places will not only stop spread of disease, it will reduce consumption of chewing tobacco – the major cause for spitting. All the students took strong initiative to participate in this campaign by attending the webinar and contributing their responsibilities towards the nation.
